Metcalf
Light, Durable and the Perfect Size for All Types of Hunts
After receiving the Mystery Ranch Metcalf pack through Guidefitter, I immediately started training with it as my number 1 piece of equipment in an Elk Backcountry Training Program. I loaded the Metcalf with a 25lb sand bag and went to work. During my training this pack has been tossed on and off several times with ease, handling all the stresses. I have been rucking several miles a week and the Metcalf has been extremely comfortable. I was concerned about how it would fit and handle weight because at age 56 I have had 3 back surgeries. With the Metcalf I have had no pain. I have been so excited to train and take it on my first hunt. Just recently I had an archery hunt in Arkansas and the Metcalf was packed and ready to go. I had it loaded down with my daily hunting gear and some survival gear and it was very comfortable. It wasn't fully loaded but I could tighten the pack with all the straps to keep it perfect to size and balanced well. With a few Zoid bags for my gear, it was very organized and easy to get to. I didn't have the opportunity to pack out a deer but I am very excited to pack out an elk this coming season from a spike camp. With getting older, the Metcalf allows me to keep up with the younger hunters on pack out trips. The Metcalf has given me extreme confidence I can get the job done.

Beartooth 80
Comfort Is Key
I purchased this pack after doing a lot of research and trying different packs at different expos. I ordered the Beartooth 80 just due to its size. I can fit tons of stuff in it but mainly wanted it for elk pack trips. The adjustability that Mystery Ranch gives you with there packs is amazing. The weight load is on your hips mainly and keeps all that weight off your shoulders unlike traditional packs or bags. I would recommend them to anyone and I will be buying a smaller version for quick trips in the mountains.

Forager Pocket
Small vs Large
I ordered the large and the small. I can't leave separate reviews but if I could I would give the large a lesser rating. The large takes up 4 webbing spaces which is too high for the pop up 28. The small pocket though, fits perfectly. Webbing space is three. It's big enough to fit my iPhone 12 mini, a range finder, or snacks. It wont fit anything larger than that.

Pintler
This is a must have!!
SO glad I purchased this pack. At the time I was shopping this pack was out of stock. I went back and forth deciding if I wanted to purchase the Pintler or maybe pick up another pack from Mystery Ranch. I am glad I waited. The turn around time before the pack was back in stock was not very long and Guidefitter did a great job of getting my pack to me in a timely manner once it was available. The pack it self is perfect for a day trip and even a 2-3 over night trip. The zipper lay out is universal is so many ways. If you are looking at the pack from the front the zipper lay out forms a "Y" allowing to to access gear from the top or from the bottom giving it the ability to allow you to retrieve gear without unloading your pack. The seams for the zippers and the pack as a whole are sturdy and thus far seam to be leak proof. Organization is plentyful. on the outside of the pack you have two pockets that sit at the top of the pack for quick access to head lamps, tag, knifes, etc. On the inside of that pack there is more than a handful of pockets some with enough room to hold a spotting scope. The amount of pockets make it extremely easy to organize gear. The Pintler has the loading shelf that, if I'm not mistaking, has the ability to hold up to 150 LBS of game meat or other gear on the trek in. It is extremely easy to access the load shelf and it comes across as intuitive. I would recommend that you follow the size chart and make sure you take accurate measurements to insure you purchase the correct size and to increase comfortability in the field. I would highly recommend the Pintler if you are looking for a jack of all trades pack. Great Job Mystery Ranch!
