These are great trekking poles. I am 5 foot 10 200 pounds and I have broken quite a few trekking poles in the past five years in the mountains. I bought these poles before in Alaska Caribu Hunt on the north slope of the Brooks Range in August. Some days we were tracking through 4 inches of snow and other days crossing 3 feet of running glacial streams. If you have ever walked on the tundra, you know it is an extreme hassle and these polls made it less so. We carried out 5 Caribu which would have been impossible without these poles
The arctic tundra is essentially a layer of permafrost beneath between 6 to 10 feet of slushy muddy plant life. Walking on top of this plant life sometimes you can sink down and become stuck to the point that multiple people die every year.
Having a good pair of trekking poles where you can spread your weight out and cover ground quickly is essential. With this group of Hunter's I had they were in great shape and even with the tracking polls, we average one and a half miles an hour with empty packs.
