Socks are so key to everyday comfort, and I'm surprised some people still choose to wear old-school cotton socks these days. Merino wool is where it's at, and for years, I was a diehard fan of Smartwool socks. That was until I started wearing Darn Tough socks, made in the good ol' USA, in Northfield, Vermont.
I own multple pairs of Darn Tough socks, including, Scout Boot Sock Cushion, Hunter Boot Lightweight Hunting Sock, Hunter OTC Heavyweight with Full Cushion, Willoughby Micro Crew Lightweight Hiking Sock, Number 2 Micro Crew Midweight Hiking Sock, the VanGrizzle Boot Sock Cushion, and of course the socks in this review, the Darn Tough Hunter Boot Midweight with Cushion.
Overall, I'm a fan of all the Darn Toughs I own, but in the fall and winter, I've found that I'm now wearing the Hunter Boot Midweight with Cusion just about everyday. They're so darn comfortable. In the summer months, I generally opt for the Willoughby Micro Crew Lightweight Hiking Sock or the Number 2 Micro Crew Midweight Hiking Sock. And then I find myself wearing the VanGrizzle just about any time.
What's incredible about these socks, and it's a testament to the Merino wool used by Darn Tough, is that I can wear the same pair of socks for 2-3 days in row, under normal "go to the office" wear, and they're fine. They don't smell at all. (Don't judge....). This is also great when I travel, making it easier to pack - I don't need a new pair of socks for every day I travel.
All of my Darn Tough socks are super soft, they don't make my feet itch at all, and are durable after so many times through the washing machine. I actually don't think I've had to throw any away yet!
Overall, I highly recommend the Darn Tough Hunter Boot Midweight with Cusion socks, and Darn Tough socks in general, year around, for hunting, hiking, hanging out outdoors, going to the office, or literally anywhere. I even go for long runs in my lightweight Darn Toughs and they work flawlessly.
